EYE MOVEMENT INTEGRATION (TM), EMI, is a brief, very effective approach which produces lasting therapeutic outcomes. Learn to treat PTSD, phobia, the anxiety associated with addictions, and to deal successfully with fear resulting from recent crises--- often in a single session.

EMI, is an uncomplicated, yet highly effective eye movement desensitization technique. Unlike other methods, EMI is considerate of the client’s integrity and does not require regression. Therefore, it is designed to avoid the concerns of false memory and/or the possibility of re-traumatizing the client.

COMMENTS:

"I was troubled by PTSD that was causing me increasing distress despite years of psychotherapy. I volunteered to be a demonstration subject and after the EMI intervention, the response is gone. It has been two months since the seminar and I have had no recurrence. It is wonderful!"

L. Merl, LICSW

"I have training in both EMDR and EMI. What I discovered when I attended the EMI seminar, is that EMI is easier on the client and preferable in my opinion. I, myself was paired with another student during the work shop. During that practice session, I went from having a dread of public speaking to a feeling of pleasant anticipation. I am now comfortable when speaking to groups and respond to the audience and the situation appropriately."

Nancy Montagna, Ph.D.

THE ART OF THE QUESTION

Helping People Change Their Lives

Authentic change, especially generative and sustainable change, begins with a change in thinking. Our self-talk or internal dialogue affects our experience in the world. Marilee Adams, the workshop presenter, says our self-talk can be modified dramatically by changing the questions people ask themselves (Question Thinking™). Helping people change their internal questions impacts positively on the way they think, feel and behave.

This dynamic skill-building workshop, introduces the practical methodologies of Question Thinking (QT) through new distinctions, stories, models, tools, and interactive exercises for designing and delivering powerful questions. Question Thinking provides practical tools that empower problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution as well as critical, creative, strategic, and collaborative thinking. This material can also be helpful in working with couples and families.

Note from Ron Klein: I attended this workshop earlier this year and can recommend it wholeheartedly. Dr. Adams provides a wealth of valuable, practical material and her "Choice Map" cards are a must tool you will want to give to every client. Metaphor Workshop - Stories That Change People

REMINDER * Last Call

May 30, 2009 *** Baltimore, MD

Baltimore Behavioral Health, Inc.

Training and Conference Center

On Line Brochure: CLICK HERE

Therapeutic metaphor – telling stories is an extraordinarily powerful technique for helping people grow and change. Stories work so well because they can communicate directly with the unconscious. The listener frequently experiences spontaneous flashes of insight, fresh perspectives, solutions to problems, and discovers new ways to utilize personal resources for coping and living life more successfully. Therapeutic metaphor has many applications in psychotherapy and is used by good communicators in every profession.

The material in this workshop is derived from the work of Milton H. Erickson, M.D., the renowned hypnotherapist, and other tellers of teaching tales throughout the ages. Erickson is noted for his innovative approach to psychotherapy. He utilized therapeutic metaphor and story telling as well as hypnosis extensively, and coined the term Brief Therapy for his approach of bringing about therapeutic changes for his patients, often in just a few sessions. Dr. Erickson thought of the unconscious as having its own unique awareness, interests, responses, and learning and that it is resourceful, creative and solution oriented.

This Workshop to Help You:

• Create and deliver effective therapeutic metaphors
• Learn to use anecdotes, jokes and humor
• Use storytelling to create change in your clients
• Change the metaphors people live by
• Acquire metaphors and stories from books, movies, and
other sources for your professional use

Living Your Strengths

"The greatest disease is to be unwanted" - Mother Theresa

"Want of purpose is the greatest disease" - Felix Adler

Pathways to Happiness ~ Learning, not Luck
A 10 week tele-class, beginning Feb 24.

Presented by: Nancy Montagna, Ph.D., NBCCH

We each come into this world with gifts, gifts which the world needs. Talents, yes, and we develop skills, but more to the point, it is our character strengths, our moral gifts, that lead us to Passion and Purpose. To feel a strong sense of engagement and satisfaction in life, we need to be giving our special gifts!

Do you know what your top character strengths are? Do you feel the satisfaction of being on-purpose?

The Pathways course, Living Your Strengths, will help you identify your moral gifts. You will practice applying them to areas of difficulty. It turns out that we get far more from exercising our top strengths than from working on our weaknesses.

In this course you will come to know your purpose; you will articulate in a clear statement the purpose that informs every day of your life. The course consists of 10 weekly phone conferences beginning Feb 24. Research-validated skills and practices for staying happy - even in the face of stress.

Classes are supportive, fun, inexpensive, and easy to schedule - no commute!

ADVERTISEMENT: THE CHARISMA INVENTORY WORKSHOP

Presented by: Jane R. Rosen-Grandon, Ph.D.

As you have probably noticed, requests for Marriage and Couples Counseling have skyrocketed recently! Following decades of high divorce rates, more couples of all ages and stages are finally seeking relationship counseling before it is too late. As a private practitioner, I have spent the past 10 years developing an educational model for working with couples, known as The Characteristics of Marriage Inventory (CHARISMA).

The CHARISMA Inventory is a tool, which quickly identifies areas of satisfaction and dissatisfaction in a relationships, helping counselors and therapists more quickly diagnose and establish a working agenda with their couples. The CHARISMA model, developed through research at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, identifies Love, Loyalty and Shared Family Values as the main ingredients in Marital Satisfaction. This path model helps couples see the strengths and weaknesses of their relationship, and learn the 6 basic relationship skills - Communication, Affection, Sexuality, Joint Decision-Making, Adjustment to Family Roles, and Conflict Management - which will improve their overall level of marital happiness.

To date, more than 60 of your colleagues have been trained in the use of CHARISMA. As a clearinghouse, my office makes referrals to CHARISMA-trained therapists and counselors on a weekly basis. Good marriage counselors are in demand!

If you are interested in adding CHARISMA to your therapeutic repertoire, please join me on Friday, June 8th, 2007 in Greensboro, NC for a day of training and continuing education (6 CEUs). The early registration price of
$149 includes all workshop materials plus a Starter Kit (materials for use with 10 couples). You are invited to visit our websites: www.dr-jane.com and www.charismatest.com. For registration or additional information, please write, email or call.

Death By PowerPoint - ADVERTISEMENT From Ron Klein

Every time I teach my Public Speaking and Train the Trainer workshop, participants ask me if I recommend using PowerPoint. I tell them that the first time I heard the term "Death by PowerPoint" was when my wife came home from one of her graduate school classes. She used it to describe how boring it was to sit in a class reading bullet points on a screen while the instructor pretty much read the same material from his lecture notes. I told her that the term nailed the experience for me too.

Needless to say, I have suggested that my Public Speaking and Train the Trainer workshop trainees either use Power Point sparingly, or better still, avoid using it altogether. Recently, a friend emailed a link to an article published in Sidney Morning Herald (Australia) about some interesting research that makes the case for not using PowerPoint even stronger. To read the article CLICK HERE .
